The product:

This mobile application will be made for the next target audience: future brides and grooms. We want to create a space where they can have a say without too much effort about decisions regarding one of the biggest event in their lives, the wedding.

Project duration:

Project duration will be approximately 3 months

The problem:

After market research we discovered that currently there is no solution that combines all the categories of products needed for a wedding/event.

The goal:

Our mission is to attract as many customers as possible by simplifying the procedures needed to arrange/manage/create an event

My role:

User research, define, wireframing, prototyping

User research

The research was performed using a combination of methods. Primary but also secondary research and individual interviews. Initially, I thought that a space where we can find all the necessary categories for future brides is exactly what we lack. However, after the interviews I discovered that in some cases, customers may want for example flowers to come from a certain flower shop and sweets from a certain confectionery according to everyone’s preferences.

Paper wireframes

Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points.

Digital wireframes

In the first phase of the design I tried to create a menu as simple as possible, with elements that users are already used to.

For the product categories, I chose them to be represented by an image. And the product page should be framed in 3 columns.

Takeaways

Impact: This application helps users to keep the notes, ideas and products they want for the next event.

What I learned: While designing the WedPlan app, I learned that the first ideas for the app are only the beginning of the process. Usability studies and peer feedback influenced each iteration of the app’s designs.

Next steps

Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed.

Conduct more user research to determine any new areas of need.
